WHAT DOES THIS RELATIONSHIP LOOK LIKE?
Another interesting topic around startups is how they interact with large corporations.
Possibly one of the biggest conclusions is that this type of relationship is very well received, as 8 out of 10 startups have some kind of relationship with a big corporation. These range from a commercial relationship (44%) to involvement in their business development and corporate participation in the startup’s capital (16%), where the interaction between them is total.

WITH WHOM IS IT ESTABLISHED?
And who do PropTechs work with? Of all those that work with a corporate, 77% do so with Real Estate companies (funds, landlords…) in order to seek not only greater financial strength but also to capture a primary source of business that will help them in their scaling process.
In second and third place respectively, these alliances are established with companies in the technology sector and software providers (36%) and companies focused on energy and sustainability (21%).

HOW CAN THIS RELATIONSHIP IMPROVE?
From the startups’ point of view, the difference in speed of decision making and corporate work (72%) together with the lack of business brought in by corporate (42%) are the most repeated factors to be improved.

We also wanted to know the barriers that startups have been encountering in their growth. The first stopper mentioned, by 3 out of 4 respondents, was the absence or non-participation in acceleration programs, indicating a possible lack of support from the ecosystem for entrepreneurs.
In second place, with 40% of the total number of responses, was again the lack of access to new markets or customers through strategic agreements with third parties.
The third factor mentioned is access to capital, especially in the early stages (34%) compared to later rounds of financing (23%).
